While there are athlete reps on the Commission, teams don’t have direct input into the venue selection other than being asked by the UCI staff for feedback. In the 1990s, the UCI Mountain Bike Commission, which chose the venues, had technical representatives as members, not politicians, so you had a team rep, athlete rep, organizer rep.
